Every year Canada welcomes thousands of foreign visitors on a temporary basis. Any person intending to visit Canada for pleasure, family, or business can apply for a temporary resident visa.
Temporary Residence Visa/VISIT VISA
A Temporary Resident Visa (TRV), is an official entry permit document placed in your passport by a Canadian visa office. This visa confirms your admissibility to Canada on a temporary basis including the status of a visitor, student or a worker.
Validity: A temporary resident visa may be issued for up to 10 years. This visa is usually multi-entry and allows you to travel to Canada throughout its validity.
However, you can stay in Canada for up to 6 months at a stretch. In case the Border Services Officer, at the port of entry, allows you to stay for less or more than 6 months, she/he will put the date you are required to exit by in your passport.
TRV application requirements:
You can apply for a TRV if you would like to visit, study or work in Canada on a temporary basis. The application is submitted online.
Eligibility: Your admissibility to Canada, and other factors may vary depending on the category of TRV that you are applying under.
Documents: A valid travel document (usually a passport), along with visa category specific documents providing sufficient valid information.
Proof of Funds: Reasonably sufficient funds to cover your intended duration of stay/study in Canada
Intent: Your intention to leave Canada by the end of your visit by providing evidence of your ties to your home country (employment, property, financial assets, family)
